Street Fighter 6 vs. Street Fighter 5 character model comparison shows the massive jump in detail for Chun-Li

The push forward into the next generation of fighting games means we're starting to see the leap forward in graphical fidelity, but there's plenty of detail that's hard to perceive when looking at footage and gameplay.

3D render artist InfiniteTatami recently pulled the base character models for Chun-Li from both Street Fighter 5 and Street Fighter 6 to show every little thing that's been changed and added to the strongest woman in the world for the new game.

Although Chun-Li's SF5 model is still arguably one of the best looking on the roster, she's starting to show her age next to her next gen glowup.

The main difference of course is the level of small details present that was hard to really appreciate until we can get a closeup look at Chun like this.

We can't really point to just one thing that's been massively improved (at least fidelity wise) even if it's not exactly photo-realistic with Capcom's stylistic choices and approach for SF6.

The jump from SF5 to SF6 is insane. Both are using stock textures from their game. Only thing I added is an eye reflection for SF6. (SF5 does some extra engine work so its not 100%) pic.twitter.com/NVCrKckJer

The amount of texture on Chun's skin and lips makes you see just how flat the SF5 models are, and the individual hairs visible (and even out of place) is to a level we haven't really seen in the fighting game space to this point.

It appears Capcom's designers have kept Chun-Li's facial structure much the same except to give her smaller ears and maybe a slightly higher hair line.

We also never really noticed that her earrings actually have a design on them in SF6.
